How does this free resume matcher work?
CareerPilot extracts readable text from your resume and selects relevant terms found in the job advertisement. It checks which terms also appear in your resume and highlights possible gaps. It does not rewrite text, invent skills, send your document to OpenAI, or guarantee ATS compatibility.
What does the percentage mean?
The percentage represents the share of selected job-description terms found in your document. It is not a pass/fail grade, an official ATS score, or a guarantee of hiring success. Some requirements may matter much more than others, and equivalent experience may use different wording.

Is the checker really free?
Yes. You can run as many comparisons as you need. The checker uses deterministic text analysis, not a paid AI API, and never consumes your five Free AI actions. Temporary throttling protects the service from unusually high automated traffic.
What happens to my resume?
Your uploaded document is processed in server memory to create this result and is not stored in CareerPilot's database or sent to OpenAI. Basic technical request data may still be handled by your hosting infrastructure. See our privacy policy.
Why are some keywords missing?
A keyword may be absent, phrased differently, or too specialized for this basic text comparison. Review your resume and the original posting before making changes; never add qualifications you do not have.
Can I upload a scanned PDF?
A scanned PDF without selectable text cannot be analyzed here. Export a text-based PDF, DOCX or TXT resume instead.
